This last week while Steve and Andrew were on their mission trip to Mexico, I took the rest of the kids down to stay with my parents in Oregon. While we were there we got to enjoy Mom, Dad and Heather as well as parks with water fountains that the kids were able to run through to cool off. We took naps, we probably had ice cream everyday (very unusual for us) and the kids were able to semi-torment my sisters cat. But there was one thing that stuck out to me, very subtly, my Mom in the Scripture. The night after we returned I layed in bed thinking about that and started formulating a poem in my head, so I had to write it down. We impact more people by what we do than by what we say! Thanks Mom for your wonderful example!

In her extended moments
I'd find her upon her bed
Reading God's Word and underlining
Every word that was read
It took me back to my childhood
When often I would see
Her Bible opened at the table
As she looked after me
"Let's Pray" was often said by her
in many situations
Lost money, keys and glasses
or in life's tribulations
In her life God's seen her through
A death of a child, a wayward son
She knows exactly what she will do
and exactly to whom she will run
No, she's not perfect, and neither are we
But her faithfulness to God leaves a mark
A mark that I want to leave to my children
And a Love that will never depart
(excuse the layout, blogger wouldn't publish it with the spaces to separate the verses)

Thank you for the kind words in the poem! You are a good mother, and I'm glad that I'm a part of it!
