Today, Summer officially begins. The kids have been looking forward to this for a very long time. But guess where we headed to anyway? School! Andrew's teacher was not able to be in his class the last 2 days of school and told the kids she'd be at the school on Monday till 11am. So around 10:30 we headed there with cameras in hand (my digital and Andrew had the video camera). Not quite sure what he wanted to videotape, but I think it was just another chance to tinker with technology. So he video taped in his classroom and going down the hall as we left. Since we've decided to home school Andrew next year he wanted to capture some moments, he's very sentimental.
So this morning after breakfast we talked through our weeks in the summer. Knowing that my days can get pretty frazzled if I don't have a plan, we laid out a plan. Hopefully, leaving enough room for spontaneity. Since there are 5 kids, each kids will have their own day. Starting with the oldest, Andrew's day is Monday, Tori's day is Tuesday, etc... On their particular day they will get to do some fun stuff but also have extra responsibility. They get to do their laundry (with my help), help me make lunch, during quiet time they get to be in the front room doing what they want quietly while the others are on their bed either napping or just resting. They also each (the older ones) will get to add another entry on their blogs that we set up and then if there are any choices to be made with the kids the kid of the day gets to pick. One day down 89 more to go. We'll see how it all pans out. Of course I can be pretty idealistic so I'll keep blogging and let you know how its going. So Andrew has set up his blog and I finally figured out how to put links on my page, so check out Andrew's Neighborhood some time. God has impressed on my mind to find joy in being with my kids this summer, so with His help I know I will. I am looking forward to memorable times, so as not to be too idealistic I understand that those blah moments will be in there too!
